Photography
has always captured my imagination. One Christmas
when I was a child, I received a small 110 'Spy Camera'
as a present. Quickly I was thrilled by the
emotion of capturing subjects in pictures. You
probably could not imagine the crazy and funny pictures
I took... And even though they were irrelevant, shaky,
blurry and awful in general, they were wonderful to me.
I couldn't wait for dad to bring the developed pictures
back, and when he did, magic happened: we all sat down
together to laugh and enjoy the moments.
Photographs made us travel in time.
At age 15,
my father lent me (without knowing it :) his Canon EOS
1000F camera. I used to go around everywhere with
it, thinking that I was the best photographer in the
world. This led me to follow a passion for
photography which later on took me to the Sagrado
Corazón University of Puerto Rico, in which I started
formal studies in photography, eventually completing a
course in Professional Photography.
When
I was young I had a dream of having a picture of my
composition published. Now, photography has made
magic again, making many of my work appear in dozens of
publications nationwide.
I enjoy
portraying my people, my food, our lifestyle. I
like showing life and hope, in those simple everyday
moments. There is beauty on every corner, there is
history on every frame.
My mission
is to create a living, durable proof that our life, our
people and my Puerto Rico is a living masterpiece that
breathes. After all, photography is magic: it
makes us travel and dream...
